The history of the raised fist has a rich history. The Taller de Gráfica Popular - a print collective from Mexico popularized the use of this imagery to advance revolutionary social causes in the 40’s. It has been seen in the French Revolution, the Spanish Civil War, Black Power, the Feminist movement, and LGBTQ+ movements throughout history and currently.

The metallic hand represents strength, while the red feathers represent a flock mentality. We need to band together and support eachother. All of my work is mostly hand cut collage, using magazine imagery to create the work. This collage blends hand cut collage with digital additions of the text, “SOLIDARITY IS POWER.”
